Mother Nature Wins Again at Mercer Raceway Park; Midgets Rescheduled; Rain Check Policy Announced

Mercer, PA (June 2, 2012): Persistent showers hit Mercer Raceway Park after the pit and front gates were opened, forcing a postponement of the ARDC Midget race. The event will be made up later in the season and track management has announced a generous policy for the use of rain checks and wristbands.

Over twenty Midgets from the American Racing Drivers Club were on hand for the first of two appearances at the track. “We are greatly disappointed that we had to postpone the show,” said track owner Bill Altman. “The Midgets truly supported us, so we are going to give them another date to make up for the loss of this program,” he added.

The next regularly scheduled Midget program will be on July 21. A make-up date has been added for August 11.

Fans and participants will have plenty of opportunities to use their rain checks and wristbands.
The first option is to use them on the next two Saturday Night Live! programs, June 9 and June 21. If the rain checks or wristbands are used for either of those events, there will be no money refunded for the diffference in value.

The second option, which will result in an equal value exchange, would be to hold onto the rain checks and wristbands for use at the following special events: July 14 (FASTRAK NE Regional Late Models); July 21 (ARDC Midgets); August 11 (ARDC Midgets); or August 18 (BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour).

Next weekend, Mercer Raceway Park will host a Saturday Night Live! racing program, which will consist of six action-packed racing divisions. The Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars will be back, along with the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds, the Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors and Precise Racing Products Stock Cars. The Modified Lites, presented by Big Daddy’s Speed Center and Rock Concrete, and the Mini Stocks will complete the evening’s festivities.

On June 16, the Auto Racers for Kids Charity race will be held. Extra money will be on the line for all divisions, and the proceeds of the event will benefit area children and youth. Will the big winner donate the prize money to the cause like Jack Sodeman, Jr. did?

As usual, gates will open at 4 p.m., and racing will begin at 7 p.m.
