Mercer, PA (September 22, 2012): D.J. Furney (Micro Sprints) and Tim Callahan (Mini Stocks) took the make-up features to complete day one of the Little Guy Nationals.Day two started with heat races, but the rains came after three of the six divisions hit the track. The balance of the program will be completed Sunday, with gates opening at noon and racing at 2 p.m.
The evening started off with a pair of features carried over from the rain-shortened program on night number one of the 13th Annual Little Guy Nationals.
First up were the Micro Sprints, going 20 laps for $500. George Hobaugh led the first six laps until he retired from the race, giving the lead to D,J. Furney. Richie Hartman raced his way up to second, followed by Steve Dunmire, Will Fleming and Robert Garvey.
Furney led the rest of the way, which wasn’t easy, as Dunmire was strong on the restarts that interrupted the rest of the race. However, Furney’s mount got stronger each lap thereafter.

The fifteen lap Mini Stock race went to Trooper Tim Callahan. He passed Tyler Fulton on lap 7 when the teen started to falter. William Baum moved into second, but Brian Ritchey worked by him on lap 11. Baum dropped out soon thereafter.
At the checkers, it was Callahan, Ritchey and Brian Felmlee. Steve Longwell, Sr. and Wally Stearns completed the top five. Stearns could not have gone another lap, as his right rear wheel was askew on the final circuit.
Kris Anderson, Rudy Troples, Eric Cwynar, Kevin Lannigan and Alex Paden rounded out the top ten.
