Championship Racing Starts this Week at Mercer Raceway Park

Championship Racing Starts this Week at Mercer Raceway Park

The chase for the championships will start this Saturday, April 9, at Mercer Raceway Park. Racers in all seven classes will get their first opportunities to earn valuable points that will count toward the coveted titles.

Because the speedway lost the first Saturday Night Live! program to snow and unseasonable temperatures last week, the pressure will be on right from the first green flag of the night. You see, the new format at the track does not allow for practice on regular race nights, which means that every competitor has to be fast every time his or her car hits the track. Points are earned in heat races and feature events, so every pass will count, all night long!

Starting Times

The evening’s activities will start at 5:30 p.m. with the first heat race for the Elder Tractor Sales and Service Junior Sprints. This will be the first time ever that these young drivers will gather points at the track. Point chasing is nothing new for the pilots in the Mini Stocks, presented by Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking and Ray’s Racing Collectibles, and the Modified Lites, offered by Rock Concrete Supply. These three classes will complete their part of the program by 7 p.m.

The second flight will take off at 7. The Precise Racing Products Open Stocks will go first, followed by the Bonnell’s Rod Shop Outlaw Sprint Warriors, the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds, and the 4 Your Car Connection 410 Sprint Cars. These traditional headline classes will run a full program of heats, B Mains (if needed), and A Mains to determine who will get the bragging rights.

Gates will open at 4 to allow the racers into the pit area. Spectators can enter the grounds at 4:30.

Prices

Regular event ticket pricing will apply. So, adults can see all of the action for just $13. Seniors will be admitted for $11, and students (ages 9-15) for $5. Children (ages 8 and under) will be admitted free of charge. The Family Pass will be available for $28, and that will apply to two adults and up to four minors of any age. Pit Passes will be $30.

Let’s Go Racing! presented by Bonnell’s Rod Shop April 16

If you cannot attend this week’s racing, come out on April 16 for Let’s Go Racing! Courtesy of Bonnell’s Rod Shop, six of the seven regular divisions will take part and they will be going for extra cash in addition to those championship points! Only the Elder Tractor Sales and Service Junior Sprints will have the night off.
