(Mercer, PA June 4, 2016): Afternoon sprinkles and the threat of evening showers led to yet another cancellation of a racing event at Mercer Raceway Park on June 4. The Midseason Championships will be next on the docket on June 11, weather permitting, of course.
The Midseason Championships will be an important milestone on the way to a track title. Double points will be awarded in all seven divisions that make up a Saturday Night Live! program. In addition, it will be Herr’s Snacks Meet Your Heroes night, so fans will et the opportunity to meet the drivers.
For the midseason championships, the top starting spots will go to the drivers having accumulated the most points so far in the 2016 racing season. To get that benefit, the racers must be among the best eight or nine competitors in their respective heat races. The remaining drivers will be lined up according to their heat race finishes.
For example, Brandon Matus will have the pole position for the 4 Your Car Connection 410 Sprints if he excels in his heat race. Likewise, Jimmy Holden (Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds), C.J. Jones (Bonnell’s Rod Shop Outlaw Sprint Warriors), William Hurrelbrink (Precise Racing Products Open Stocks), Doug Jones (Rock Concrete Supply Modified Lites), Tyler Fulton (Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking and Ray’s Racing Collectibles Mini Stocks), and Chase Metheney (Elder Tractor Sales and Service Junior Sprints) will also occupy prime starting positions, if they succeed in their respective qualifiers.
Pit gates will open at 3 p.m., and spectator gates at 4, with the early bird racing starting at 5:30. The headliners will take to the track at 7 p.m.
Regular event ticket pricing will apply. Adults will be admitted for $13, seniors (60+) for $11, and students (9-15) for $5. Children (8 and under) will be admitted for free. Family Passes will be $28, and that applies for two parents and up to four minors of any age. Pit passes will be $30.
Coming up on June 18 will be the ULMS Late Models for their only appearance of the season at the Mercer oval. June 25 will be another Saturday Night Live! event, with fireworks presented by Pizza Joe’s.
