(Mercer, PA January 13, 2017): Mercer Raceway Park is changing its Saturday Night Live! racing program which has been the backbone of the schedule in recent years. “We experimented with a two-tiered format last season, by having several of our support classes starting earlier in the day. But, the lessons learned from that experience suggested that we needed to move in a different direction,” observed Bill Altman, the track’s owner. “So, we are going to scale back our program by eliminating two of the divisions, and move the starting time to 6:30 for better racing. This will allow our fans to arrive a little later, see the entire program, and still get out at a reasonable hour.” The new Saturday Night Live! program will consist of 410 Sprint Cars, 305 Sprint Cars, 358 Modifieds, Modified Lites, and Mini Stocks.
“It was a hard decision to drop the Stock Cars and Junior Sprints from our staple program,” Altman said. “We want those competitors to know that we appreciate their past support and that they still have a place at Mercer Raceway Park.” Each class will appear at selected special events during the season, including the season-ending extravaganza, the Little Guy Nationals.
