(Mercer, PA May 25, 2017): Mercer Raceway Park will play host to the USA-EAST Championship Tractor and Truck Pull season opener on Sunday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. For each of the past eighteen years, the tradition of bringing the best of the best in the Pulling sport to Mercer, PA at the start the championship quest has been maintained. Fans have come to know that when it is time for tractor and truck pulling to start the season, the place to be is Mercer Raceway Park. This year will be no different, as Ritenour Sales & Service, of Butler and Hadley, present this spectacular contest.
In the past years fans have come to Mercer to see some of their old favorites and also some of the brand new tractors and trucks that are coming on the circuit for the first time. Once again, the top tractors and the top semi trucks from all parts of the United States will converge on Mercer Raceway Park on Sunday, May 28th – the Sunday of Memorial Day week-end.
The All-American “Smoker” tractors will be one of the highlights of the event as the best multi turbo-charged diesels in the land will vie for the handsome early season prize money. A large field of tractors is expected.
The Big Rigs Semi Trucks, featuring all of the best modified rigs in the country, will take to specially constructed Mercer pulling pit. This is the only time that area fans can see all of these huge smoke-belching machines on the same track at the same time early in the season. Because the Mercer Raceway event precedes any other Big Rigs event, it is imperative that any truck planning to run for the points be on hand and ready to go for the Mercer pull.
The modified four-wheel drive trucks are also coming to the Spring Nationals as the new “Run What Ya Brung” class is slated for the pull. This very powerful class now permits super-charged engines and some owners may opt to put a special nitrous oxide system on their huge motors.
And the diesel 4×4 trucks will be allowed to run a triple turbo-charger set up with USA-EAST.
The pull at Mercer will also have a local-type class when the new 8500 lb. Work Stock Diesel 2.5 4×4 Trucks come together for the first time in the new season. These trucks are definitely street legal trucks that form the entry level division for diesel pulling. Local area trucks are welcome to participate but must pass a tech inspection prior to entering the pull.
The pulling community is eager to start the season and Mercer Raceway Park rolls out the red carpet for the awesome machines that come from far and wide to be a part of the event. Fans plan for this pull each year and annually pack the grandstand for the USA-EAST season opener. And of course the infield is also opened for the pull – the only time all season when fans can actually sit in the grassy center at the raceway.
The All American Spring Nationals are produced by Full Pull Productions of Jamestown, PA, the largest private promoter of sanctioned pulling events in the United States. The pull is sanctioned for points in its entirety by the USA-EAST Sled Pulling Association.
The gates will open at 4 p.m., with pulling starting at 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the entire pull will be run on Monday (Memorial Day) at 5:00 p.m.
Adult Pulling fans will enjoy the show for $15, with seniors (60+) joining the fun for just $13. Student tickets, for those ages 9-15, will be $7. The youngsters will be admitted for free for this awesome show. The Family Passes will be available for $35, and that will be good for two adults and up to four minors of any age. Pit Passes will be $25.
