The Mercer Summer Nationals presented by J.S. Bova Excavating and Mother Trucker Trucking may be the only racing event of the summer, however, it certainly is the one event you won’t want to miss. On Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th, Mercer Raceway Park will come back to life for what is shaping up to be one huge weekend event! The speedway has sat idle as a dirt racing venue since the 2017 season. Since that time, behind the scenes, Joe Bova, Sherri Bova, and Eric Williams have been planning an event that should certainly bring the historic speedway back to life in proper fashion. Adding to that “racers” perspective are also two sprint car racers, Scott Priester and Cody Bova. Feature wins and Championships aside, these three families have come together to offer a program that will be sure to entertain fans and race teams alike. While this promotional team will certainly bring a fresh set of racer friendly ideas to the raceway, none of this would be possible without the support of Bill Altman, the speedway’s current owner.
On Friday, July 13th, Open Stocks will be competing for $600-to-win, along with 270 Micro Sprints competing for $500-to-win and Mini Stocks (4 and 6 Cylinders) competing for $500-to-win. Between heat races, an open practice open to all divisions will take place concluding the event until 11:00 PM, will also be a rotating open practice. Cars participating in racing events will only be permitted to practice after the final checkered flag flies. Gates on Friday will open at 4 PM. Racing will begin at 7 PM. Practice combined with some close wheel to wheel racing action will give fans a true mixture of cars in action on the track.
On Saturday, July 14th, 410 Sprint Cars will be competing for $3,500-to-win, along with Open Stocks competing for $1,200-to-win. The Mod-Lite division will be honoring one their own by racing in the “Mark Marcucci Tribute” race for $888-to-win. Mark’s life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in April and he is Mercer’s all-time winningest driver in the mod-lite division and a multi-time track champion. Super6 Late Models will round out the card as an exhibition class. Gates on Saturday will open at 3 PM. Racing will begin at 7 PM.
A fireworks display will conclude the action on Saturday courtesy of Husqvarna and RTL Forestry Products, Inc! Please note that future sponsorship may increase purses.
