The 19th Annual Little Guys Nationals is gaining lots of momentum and in a few short weeks the lights will be on for some great racing action. As the future of Mercer Raceway Park is still uncertain, one remaining event in the 2018 season is setting up to be the biggest and best Little Guys Nationals to date. Over the years the landscape of racing divisions in the region has seen many changes and that also applies for divisions ran with the Little Guys Nationals. Last year brought the first ever visit of the Rush Sportsman Modifieds. This year we are excited to announce the addition of the 600cc Micro Sprints.
The 600cc Micro Sprints are the big brother to the well-established 270 Micro Sprints. With more power and a similar light weight chassis these cars produce impressive speeds on the 3/8 mile oval. 600cc Micro’s are growing in popularity in the Western PA area, however have been long established in Eastern PA for many years. This event is expected to draw many cars from Central PA for what is sure to be a great field of cars.
Young Gun JR Sprints will also make their return to the speedway, highlighting the areas youngest talent before they too move up the ranks. This division is the perfect proving grounds for youngsters to get experience behind the wheel before moving into a full sized, full powered race car.
The spotlight is certainly going to be aimed at the Penn Ohio Stock Car Series as they always bring an impressive field of cars to this big event. “It’s amazing to see the support of the stock car racers and the Penn Ohio Series in helping make this event come together.” stated Promotor Eric Williams. If the Mercer Summer Nationals was any indication of the performance this division is ready to dish out then the stock cars alone will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Another class that will bring some thunder back into the speedway will be the 358 Mod Tour Modifieds. The Little Guys Nationals has picked up the 358 Mod Tour Sanction to bring along a strong car count and they will also provide their eligible drivers with four tire give aways to cars running American Racer Tires and prize money within the division. Mercer veterans and outside invaders are already getting registrations in for this event.
The 2 Barrel Econo Mods are making a return visit to the speedway. This division has had tremendous growth over the last few years and we anticipate the highest car count we have ever seen in this division for this event. Rules for this division will be following your home track rules.
Mod-Lites will be returning to the raceway after an emotional Mark Marcucci Memorial Race at the Mercer Summer Nationals. With nearly 50 Mod Lites on hand for the July race we are certain there will be no shortage for this two-day event. In the event 12 or more Dwarf cars enter in the Mod Lite division we will run a separate race for the Dwarf cars. Specific details of that will be released at a later date.
Mini Stocks will round out the card and always prove to be some of the best grass roots racing we have to offer. Many of the local favorites will battle it out with some outside invaders to make for a great race. Check the rules listed under driver info for more details.
