June 15 Racing Canceled at Michaels Mercer Raceway; Little Guys’ Summer Spectacular up Next

For Immediate Release Media Contact: Lou Long (412-760-9755) June 15 Racing Canceled at Michaels Mercer Raceway; Little Guys’ Summer Spectacular up Next (Mercer, PA June 15, 2019): Wet weather forced yet another cancellation at Michaels Mercer Raceway. “We’ll be ready to try again on June 22,” said owner Ed Michaels. The speedway will host the Little Guys’ Summer Spectacular, an eight-division extravaganza that will serve as a prelude to the season-ending Little Guys’ Nationals. The Diehl Ram Big Block Modifieds will not be part of the event next week, but there will be no shortage of racing action. Taking center stage will be the Racesaver 305 Sprint Cars, presented by Hards Welding and Fabrication and River Valley Butcher Block, and the Fastrak Limited Modifieds, offered by Turn 4 Toilets. The Barris Trucking Modified Lites will be separated from their cousins, the Dwarf cars, for this contest. The Dwarf cars are similar in appearance to the Modified Lites, but they have smaller motorcycle engines providing the power. Both divisions will compete in a full slate of qualifications and features. Making their first appearance of 2019 will be the 270 Micro Sprints and the Junior Sprints, which have been on the card several times but have yet to race a competitive lap at Mercer due to the weather. Stock Car fans will have two classes to cheer for. The Penn Ohio Stocks will be on hand, as will the exciting and economical Mini Stocks. The Minis are backed by Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking, two of the speedway’s most loyal sponsors. Remember that the 410 Sprint Cars will make their return to Michaels Mercer Raceway on June 29, but they can leave their wings at home! The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series will swing into town. These Sprints will display the back-it-in style familiar to older fans, who remember when all Sprint Cars raced without the tin overhead. The younger crowd will want to experience the thrill of traditional Sprint Car racing, too. After a week off, racing will resume with the two-day Buddy Barris Trucking Memorial Summer Nationals Sprint Show, on July 12 and 13. The Racesaver 305 Sprints will top the play list on Friday night, and the winged 410 Sprints, always a fan favorite at the track, will be in for the Saturday finale. Other divisions will provide support both nights for these exciting races. Remember, too, that you can get alerts regarding the cancellation of any racing event at Mercer Raceway Park sent directly to your smartphone or other electronic device.
