Mercer, Pa

The oval track racing has been quiet at Mercer since early September but will roar back with a vengeance for the fall brawl which will be held on Friday, September 25th which will feature the 410 sprint cars battling for $2000 to win!! also on the card will be the big block modifieds; the FASTRAK limited modifieds the Racesaver 305 sprints and the mighty Mercer  mini stocks.

The show will be a quick tuneup for the 21st annual little guy nationals to be held the following week the first week of October.

The 410 sprint cars have been highly competitive at Mercer this year in their limited appearances. 3rd generation driver Adam Kekich has two feature wins and 4 time track Champion and 2nd generation driver Jack Sodeman Jr has one win. Jeremy Kornbau has been doing a great job and has been knocking on the door of victory Lane along with Brandon Spithaler. With the show being on a Friday night it is possible that some western or central Ohio sprint cars will head east to Mercer to race in the open 410 show.

The Racesaver 305 sprints have been very competitive as well with 2019 track champion Jake Gomola being the only repeat winner!! Greg Dobrosky who also picked up the “Big Mav Classic” central Pa standout Garrett Bard and Randy Sterling have been the only other victors.

The big block modifieds this season started out with New York State dominating the features with Phil Vigneri, Erik Rudolph and Chad Brachmann from the big Apple state picking up big paying wins until 2019 and 1995 champ Rex King Sr picked up his first Mercer checker of 2020 and his son Rex King Jr was the last modified winner at the speedway. Veteran Dave Murdick has been winless at Mercer this year and has one final race to take the win.

The FASTRAK limited modifieds have been growing every week and has been so competitive it took last year’s track champion Brian Schaffer four nights until he could pick up his first win of 2020. Longtime Modifed racer Eric Gabany has 2 wins, youngster Preston Cope picked up his first ever Mercer Checker, and the big circuit winner Chas Wolbert has 2 Mercer victories.

The mighty Mercer mini stocks have had five feature events out of six that have been won by less than one second!!! and have been averaging 25 cars a night with 5 different winners!! Adam Aley who returned to racing after a 19 year layoff , picked up his first career win at Mercer as did Phil King!! Adam’s brother Will has one win, and Mike Porterfield has two, and former champ Tim Callahan has one.
